At the park close to the Kageyama residence, Tobio waits for Iwaizumi for their early morning hangout. They're at the coattails of winter during this time of the year, so mornings are still quite chilly and misty, which is the reason why Tobio's donning a light windbreaker and joggers. There are a few elderly people milling around the park as well, doing their own morning routines: gentle exercises and stretches. But other than that, it's pretty quiet as Tobio waits.
Since it's still a little early from their agreed meet-up time, Tobio decides to do some light warm-ups with his volleyball. He tosses it over his head a couple of times, which impresses one of the elderly grandmas, who silently watches and claps for him. ]
[Of course the little nerd would already be practicing by the time Iwaizumi shows up - he'd expect no less from one of his freakish little kohai. Iwaizumi takes advantage of the distraction that comes from Kageyama's self-setting to plant a friendly foot on his ass and shove him a little from behind in greeting.]
Morning, loser.
[And now, the noogies, as promised (at least in Iwaizumi's mind it was a promise).]
[ Oof. The unceremonious shove against his backside has Tobio almost toppling over. He's about to yell at whoever did it but when he realizes it was Iwaizumi, his mouth snaps shut. ]
Senpai. [ He whines over the noogying. Damn. Even when Tobio's grown slightly taller than Iwaizumi, the older man still treats him like a kid.
When he's let go, Tobio shakes his head - much like a dog would in order to get his hair back into place. ] Morning. [ He grumbles with a small pout, before passing his volleyball over to Iwaizumi. ] How has your week been, senpai?
[Iwaizumi is grinning as he pulls away from the vicious noogie session, but then puts on a casual look as he starts setting the ball above his head instead. He's not a proper setter, but it's a habit that plenty of players pick up.]
Busy. We're getting ready to kick your sorry ass at Spring Prelims.
[It's instinct that leads Iwaizumi to want to counter Kageyama's assertion, but he can't help but be a little proud of the kid when he so clearly says "my team" instead of "I". It's such a small thing that Tobio himself might not even realize it, Iwaizumi thinks, but it's a clear show of progress in a short amount of time.
[Say what you will about Karasuno - they're rivals, and they're going down - but they've been good for Kageyama, and Iwaizumi won't sneeze at that. He easily returns the pass.]
Don't think meeting up with you like this means I'm about to go easy on you.
[Look at that. A proper set. Kageyama's skills are undeniable, even in a casual toss about like this. He's always understood what Oikawa found so threatening - not that he'd choose another partner over him for anything - but having Kageyama set for him for the first time in a few years just goes to show him how much the kid has improved.
[It's remarkably easy to meet it with a positively vicious spike. He'll show Kageyama how he's improved too.]
[ It feels like time moves in slow motion when Tobio watches Iwaizumi switch his stance to prepare for Tobio's toss, arm reaching all the way back before snapping forward and connecting with the ball - landing a sickening blow.
Wow. Iwaizumi senpai is... so freaking cool. ]
Nice one, senpai. [ Tobio praises before he goes after the ball to pick it up. He then passes the ball over to Iwaizumi so they can keep playing more rounds together. ]
[That's right. Your senpai is a bad ass. Recognize. He takes the pass and begins setting the ball over his head the way Kageyama had been doing when he first approached.]
[Well, a net is a net. Iwaizumi raises a brow at it even so. Then he does a basketball chest pass at Kageyama with the volleyball just to throw him off.]
Catch that one.
[And then he makes his way over to the net, calling over his shoulder as he crosses to the other side of it.]
We should have grabbed someone to toss for us. You're gonna have to do it yourself. Think you can handle that?
[ Thankfully, Tobio has fast reflexes and manages to catch the ball with ease.
He follows Iwaizumi, and then walks to the opposite side of the mini court. Tobio looks around for any possible candidates who can toss for them... But only sees the grandma fondly watching them from afar. ]
I can do it. [ Tobio assures, taking a few steps back. ] Check out my service first, senpai. I've been practicing this. [ He turns the ball in his hands, gathering his focus. He then takes three steps forward, tosses the ball into the air, and slams a powerful serve to Iwaizumi's side of the net.
It's not perfect like Oikawa's but it's getting there. ]
[No one serves up a ball like Oikawa, but that doesn't mean Kageyama's serve isn't impressive. Iwaizumi dives to receive it and does manage to hit it, but he's not able to get the right angle on it quickly enough, and it goes out of bounds rather than over the net.
[He looks briefly frustrated, but then lets out a breathless laugh as he jogs to retrieve the ball.]
Not bad, asshole. [This is said with fondness as he scoops the ball back up, then tosses it toward Kageyama.]
[ Tobio can't help the proud smirk tugging at lips when he watches Iwaizumi trying to receive the ball with some difficulty. Heh. At least Tobio's efforts are paying off.
Catching the ball, Tobio steps back again to set up his next serve. Breathe in, spin, breathe out. Take three steps forward, jump, and slam!
[It's true. Kageyama's second serve is even more powerful than the first, but Iwaizumi is used to one on one practice with Oikawa, and now that he knows what to expect, he dives to meet the ball and sends it easily back over, then leaps up to prepare himself for the next volley.]
[ Tobio's expression is a mix between looking proud and impressed at his senpai for receiving it cleanly, and disappointed at himself for not being good enough to fool Iwaizumi twice.
He shuffles forward, bouncing the ball on his arms with an underhand receive before tossing it back over to Iwaizumi. ]

[ Tobio positions himself under the ball, bends low and sets it over to Iwaizumi.
The grandma who had been watching him earlier is still watching. She seems very entertained by these youths. ]
thank you for RPing the grandma too
